Bowl 9 “Magnolia” By Lesle Platt

14″ Salad or Popcorn by Lesli Platt

I try to incorporate artistic expression in everything I do. Whether I am drawing, painting, working in clay, weaving a basket or keeping up with all my potted plants, enjoying my yard and decorating my home. Everyday is an opportunity to immerse myself in all the beauty that surrounds me. I am grateful for the talents God has bestowed on me and embrace the chance to share with others.

Description

We asked the artist, what was the inspiration for this bowl?

The Magnolia represents strength and beauty to me. The flower unfolds and reveals itself carefully, though once open, it can quickly fade; however, the tree, it’s leaves, the cone full of seeds, display a strength that weathers the seasons. There are those who don’t appreciate the magnolia for the mess it makes, but the blossoms are beautiful, strong, yet fragile. The tree with its branches outstretched and the leaves sheltering the buds each spring, as the petals open and a new bloom appears; like a woman whose outward beauty last for a short while but her internal beauty, like the tree, is the blossom that does not whither, but stays. May my magnolia bowl bring you pleasure and remind you of your bloom within. ~ Lesle Platt, Artist
