The 2016 Plant City Empty Bowls Project will be held on Saturday, November 12th at the downtown Historic Train Depot and McCall Park.
The Empty Bowls Project combines art with a simple lunch that brings awareness of hunger in our community. It is a pottery art project conducted by the Art Teachers in the Hillsborough Country District 6 Schools and their students making the empty bowls as a symbol of all the Empty Bowls that go unfilled every day.
The Empty Bowls Project lunch is conducted by volunteer participating churches who prepare a simple lunch of a variety of delicious soups served with a piece of bread, fruit and water.
The public is invited to join the Empty Bowls Team with a donation of $10 for the lunch and a choice of a clay bowl made by the school children. All the proceeds from this fundraiser go entirely to the United Food Bank of Plant City; a not for profit 501(c)3 organization established in 1999 to serve groceries to the truly needy in our community.
